About GRADO
Romanian Group for the Human Rights Defence – GRADO Association was established under Law 21 of 1924 as an initiative of 21 people. The association has acquired legal personality in September 1994 under the final court ruling.
The number of members in the association fluctuated over time, reaching a maximum of 41 members in 2000. Between 2001 and 2003 had 30 members, their number gradually reducing to 22 people in 2009. The Association’s status prescribes rights and obligations for the association members. Any person who wishes to become a member of the association may send an application for enrollment.

1. To contribute to a criminal justice system in accordance with European standards
2. To promote education for human rights, democracy and citizenship
3. To contribute to the defense of the persons whose rights have been violated
4. To contribute to the development of civil society

For 2010 – 2020, the association will have the following priorities:
- monitoring human rights respect – how Law 275 is applied;
- organizing a campaign to apply specific laws;
- monitoring the rights of women victims of domestic violence;
- programs for communautary education.
GRADO Association – the Romanian Human Rights Grups was founded on the 28 September 1994.
